New eTextbook Platform revealed!

We are delighted to announce that, following our review of eBook platforms and feedback from staff and students from across the University, we have decided to partner with BibliU as our new eTextbook platform provider.  

Over the next few weeks, you will notice some changes to the Library Portal and in your lessons, and where you would normally be directed to access eTextbooks from Perlego you will now be directed to BibliU.  

There were a number of factors that fed into the decision to partner with BibliU but we wanted to share with you some of the features we were particularly impressed with: 

• Improved Authentication – you only need to enter your Arden Office 365 credentials once, thereafter, simply select Arden as your institution for one-click access to your account.  

• Enhanced Search Function – you can run a full text search across every book at once and it even searches inside images. 

• Advanced Accessibility Features – including a read aloud function, zoom function and the ability to change background colour.  

• Note Taking on the Move – your highlights, notes and bookmarks are instantly updated between the mobile APP and the desktop platform. 

• Referencing – there is an integrated referencing tool and the ability to download to referencing management tools. (This includes Arden Harvard, APA and OSCOLA is under development and coming soon) 

• Student Focussed – with the feature requests tool you can submit a development idea directly to BibliU developers and see your idea in progress as it moves from the feedback stage to development to release.

You will be able to start using BibliU from the 1st of August 2022 and we will be running a series of workshops to take you through some of the key features of BibliU from this date.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) 

Will I still be able to access the key texts for my modules? 

Yes, we have carried out a title matching exercise with BibliU and are working with them to ensure all of the key reading that was available through Perlego will be available through BibliU.  

When will I lose access to my Perlego account? 

Your Perlego account will remain active until the end of the year. However, we highly recommend you start using BibliU to access your key reading as soon as possible. BibliU will be the main source of eTextbooks for the University moving forward and will therefore have the most up to date and relevant content for your programme and subject area.  

Where can I access wider reading? 

Wider reading collections can be accessed through the Library Portal’s central search tool and we are working with BibliU and others to continue to build focussed wider reading collections for the University. Watch this space…
