It’s Day #16 of Arden Library’s Appvent Calendar and today we’re looking at the SAGE Journals Premier Collection. Containing 1120 international and peer-reviewed journal titles representing over 500 scholarly and professional bodies, the SAGE journals platform is a fantastic source of world-class research

You can browse SAGE’s journals in the following discipline categories:

  • Health Sciences

  • Life and Biomedical Sciences

  • Materials Sciences & Engineering

  • Social Sciences and Humanities

Or you can explore the Discipline Hubs, which break the journal offerings down under the broader categories of Humanities and Social Sciences, where you’ll find areas such as Criminology and Criminal Justice, Psychology and Counselling, and Business and Management, and Science, Technical, Medical, which includes subjects such as Engineering, Neuroscience, Neurology and Psychiatry, and Health and Nursing.

If you’re conducting research on a particular topic, you can get started with a quick search of some keyword terms, or use the advanced search to get more specific. There are even some useful search tips, including for the use of Boolean operators, on the advanced search page. Once signed in with institutional access to the Premier Collection via Arden University, you can create a SAGE Journals profile, paired with your Arden access, and set up personal tools including new content email alerts, search alerts, and saved searches.

This global, multi-disciplinary journal platform provides access to advanced, high impact research and we’re delighted to have it as part of our library collection. To get you started, there’s a recording here of a session led by a SAGE Journals specialist which talks you through making the most of the platform and how to use its range of tools, functions and search options: Introduction to SAGE Journals.

So why not spend a little time to search it for articles for your next assignment, or look and see if there are any journals relevant to your course or module that you’d like to keep up to date with? You’ll find it linked in our A-Z Databases list and on your Subject Guide.
